MOTHER
Could you ever vote against your mother? Not a chance.
TPJ found a great new website, Mothers Opposing Bush. Their mantra is BECAUSE MOTHER KNOWS BEST!
Great concept, great web site. Check it out!
TONY GOES OUT A DEM
Tony Randall died this past week. The lights on Broadway were dimmed to honor a man who was a consummate actor and, from all accounts, gentleman.
“He also was socially active, lobbying against smoking in public places, marching in Washington against apartheid in the '80s, and helping raise money for AIDS research in the '90s. . . . In September, during a speech to the National Funeral Directors Association, Randall joked about how he envisioned his own ceremony: President Bush and Vice President Cheney would show up to pay their respects, but they'd be turned away because his family knows he didn't like them. – Yahoo
TPJ’s kind of Democrat!
RIGHT NEEDS TO BE RIGHT
Republican Rep. Steve King [Iowa, Republican Congressman] says the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. soldiers was little more than "hazing." In a statement in Friday's Des Moines Register, the Iowa congressman said the mistreatment at Abu Ghraib prison does not compare to what Iraqi insurgents have done to Americans. "The dismembered and charred corpses of American contractors dangling over the Euphrates River, in comparison to the abuse committed by a few soldiers at Abu Ghraib, are like the crimes of Jeffrey Dahmer compared to those of Heidi Fleiss," King wrote. "What amounts to hazing is not even in the same ballpark as mass murder." -- SF Gate
Junkie: Congressman King needs to get his facts correct.
First, the torture at Abu Ghraib was well underway PRIOR to the mutilation of the American contractors.
Second, the torture at Abu Ghraib included the DEATHS of prisoners Americans held. Ghastly photographs are appearing across the media and internet of Americans posed over dead bodies giving the thumbs up sign.
Third, did it ever occur to Congressman King that the rumors of the torture in Abu Ghraib that circulated around Iraq for months apparently fostered, at least in part, the mutilation of the American contractors?
