                        JAY GREENE*
                        [DAY OF DELIVERANCE]

Lest we forget, in the midst of our satisfaction with the outcome of the Libby trial and Valerie Plame Wilson's open testimony before the Senate: Bush vowed those responsible for outing a CIA agent would be fired.  His statement was unequivocal.  Now, let us count how many have been dismissed: um, how about Scooter?  Nope.

Convicted of perjury- a criminal offense - but never fired.  Uh, how about Rove?  Nope.  Has Cheney been called on the carpet by the President who so stoutly defends the Rule of Law?  If he has chastised the Veep, it has not been made public.

This administration's record of reckless lawlessness, betrayal of commitments and placing politics above every responsible consideration remains intact.

Wait - did I say betrayal of commitments?  I take that back.  He promised tax "relief" to those who need it the least, and he came through for them, impoverishing everyone else.  Bully.

This is why so many look to January 20, 2009 as a Day of Deliverance. Let him drag his sorry ass back to Texas and let us pray he inflicts no greater damage on the Republic until that blessed day.

I would not rank him with Franklin Pierce or Chester Arthur or William Harrison, for they were merely ineffectual.  Nor can I rank him with James Buchanan, my previous favorite for America's worst President; Buchanan merely aided and abetted Southern radicals by doing nothing to preserve the Union.  Bush has been The Worst, a man whose name will be despised by history, because he has actively promoted policies threatening the Constitution and causing the military and economic decline to this country.

If December 7 is the Day That Shall Live in Infamy, Bush wins the laurel as the President Who Shall Live in Infamy.
