Junkie: A number of TPJ readers have requested that TPJ rerun the article
below on recent voter registration trends in North Carolina. We invite
readers to comment and provide further analysis.

A SLOW DECLINE
TPJ
has consistently warned that Republicans are methodically building their
voter base in comparison to North Carolina Democrats. That trend
continues from January 1 through April 1 2006.
The
chart below demonstrates that Republicans have a net statewide increase
in voter registration of some 3,829 voters since January 1. Democrats
achieved a net gain in 36 counties and Republicans achieved a net gain
in 63 counties.
