GEORGE BROOKS
“Dear Michael Carmichael”
Brilliant work on "hypocrisy!
__________
Junkie: Brooks is referring to Junkie Editor Michael Carmichael’s recent commentary, “HYPOCRISY VERSUS DEMOCRACY.” The commentary is one of Carmichael’s finest contributions to TPJ. It is still posted in Carmichael’s page on TPJ. It is a must read.
MARY
HOOPER
“Banana Republic”
Today, some might think US citizenship is the most precious on the planet, but there's a good chance this will change as the right wing US government gets more and more fascist and eyes greater and greater chunks of the globe as fit for conquest. It doesn't look as if an opposition party is in the plans of our present rulers and as the tax system changes to create two classes, aristocrats and peons, America will be just another banana republic and not such a great place to live. Too bad history classes fell out of favor in the post-Viet Nam era......
Junkie: Hooper’s sentiments are understandable and shared by some Democrats. Progressive Democrats are, by nature, optimists. TPJ is confident that people of good will can change America’s course. For two examples from TPJ this week; citizens in Vermont towns have overwhelmingly called for an end to the War in Iraq and a “local” march against Bush’s war in Iraq scheduled for Fayetteville, North Carolina next Saturday is evolving into a major event.
Winston Churchill said it best, “Never, never, never give up!”

“TPJ Turns Two”
TPJ turned two this month. It has been and extraordinary two years in American politics.
TPJ started as a series of emails between Democratic friends. A number of the emails questioned whether there was a Democratic Party left in North Carolina. TPJ went to the net to find out. Two years later TPJ is proud to report that there are signs of life in the Democratic Party and hope for the future.
Readers regular send wonderful articles. People of diverse backgrounds across the United States have published articles in TPJ. TPJ is growing.
On behalf of Junkie Editor Michael Carmichael, Dr. Steven Jonas and myself, we are honored and thank you for making TPJ a part of your political reading.
Readers ask how they can help. You can give TPJ a birthday present by asking your friends and associates to read and join TPJ.
TPJ is always looking for writers. If you have had the urge to “say something,” TPJ is the place for you. Spend as much or little time as your schedule will permit. Be an occasional or regular contributor. Make the effort – Be the difference.
